On epiphanies
I wanted to end my life today. So kind of like every other day of the week, just a bit more intense. But instead, I went for a walk in my city, hoping to discover that ‘life is beautiful’ mentality that hollywood has so often told me lives on these streets. As I walked, I found I was alone, awash amongst a sea of unfamiliar faces, and they were all ugly. I saw women who should have been supermodels, and mej who would make any girl’s jaw drop, but they were repulsive. Why then, I wondered, do people spread this untruth, that everyone and everything is beautiful?
But then I saw it. Not in the eyes of a beauty, but in the hands of an old couple on a street bench, patiently awaiting the arrival of the 10:48 A Line. Over eighty, they sat there, in love, oblivious to the passers by.
I believe that we have been lied to. Beauty is not everywgere, awaiting only the proper perspective. Rather, it is anywhere wee can create it. Any place we can find love, pure and undiluted, that is where beauty can be. But it exists only anywhere we bring it, or create it.
